Topic: Translation Quality 4.0? Quality Assurance in the 21st Century

First LQA Symposium a great success

The first LQA Symposium under the motto “Translation Quality 4.0? Quality Assurance in the 21 Century” took place on September 2 and 3, 2015 at the Park Hyatt hotel in Hamburg.  Expectations were high and met. The event laid the foundation in making translation quality in its various forms and applications tangible, systematizing processes and achieving significant improvements.

In a series of 20 specialist presentations, panel discussions and interviews, experts from across Germany and as far afield as Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Greece and England presented new concepts and practically implementable processes. The presentations given by approx. 50 speakers led to a dynamic exchange of ideas, which are still continuing. The LQA Symposium hosted exclusively by Glossa Group as part of myproof® revealed so many new facets, dimensions and possibilities of quality assurance that it was decided to establish it as a fixed biannual Event.

Participants were especially impressed by the “practical relevance”, the “highly professional exchange of ideas”, the “absence of advertising” and the “international renown” of the participating companies. Other aspects praised included the “many impulses and interesting contacts” and the “pleasant atmosphere”. Last, but not least, was the “reassuring realization” that everyone was “dealing with the same problems as oneself”.

Text announcing the LQA Symposium 2015 Hamburg

The slogan of this year’s LQA Symposium to take place on 2 and 3 September 2015 is “Translation Quality 4.0? Quality Assurance in the 21st Century”. It will bring together senior representatives from large global companies, state institutions and international organisations in order to exchange ideas and compare experience in the fields of Translation Management and Quality Assurance.

This exclusive network offers experts and leaders the opportunity to discuss current challenges and practical solutions from the viewpoint of their own industrial sectors in an open atmosphere.

The annual LQA Symposium allows executives from international language departments to exchange ideas relating to the key topic of Quality Assurance and to explore current issues from different perspectives among themselves and with experts from international organisations and scientific institutions.

In-depth discussions offer participants an opportunity to gain an insight into the Quality Assurance strategies used in translation processes and products. They will also obtain an overview of the state-of-the-art technologies and new developments in this field. The ability to share expertise in an open atmosphere not only provides an impetus for identifying current challenges, it also forms the basis for the development of new ideas for common standards, innovative concepts and strategic partnerships.
