Topic: Language in processes: quality assurance in the age of big data

Since September 2015, the expert symposium organized by Glossa Group brings together renowned representatives of the trade and senior QA specialists from science and industry to discuss the challenges of quality assurance in the translation process, to share industry-specific approaches, and to discover new solutions together.

With the topic “Language in processes: quality assurance in the age of big data” we address, inter alia, questions relating to the importance of the much-quoted “5 Vs” (volume, velocity, variety, value, and validity) in our industry, especially at a time where our field of action is no longer restricted to multilingual document handling, and has not been so for some time already, but encompasses critical interfaces of global corporate communication, multimedia content and language technologies.

New basic conditions such as growing data volumes (volume), shorter processing times (velocity) and various types of data (variety) confront us with a whole range of complex challenges. However, they do not necessarily compromise quality optimization (value) and the sustainability of data (validity). On the contrary, they very often smooth the path for innovative analytical tools and processes enabling the delivery of high-quality and valid data and sustainable processes, e.g. vendor management, that could not be ensured otherwise.

The third LQA Symposium will bring together experts and decision-makers from language and communication departments of various industries (automotive industry, engineering, software, finance, life sciences, etc.) as well as representatives of state and research institutions and international organizations to discuss challenges and best practices. During intensive discussions we will exchange views on current innovations and operable processes designed to ensure the quality of translations.

Keynote Speakers:

Anke Kortenbruck (SAP SE), Service Owner Cloud Translations, will speak about key aspects of quality assurance at the interface of marketing, user interface translation and cloud environment at SAP SE.

Johannes Bursch (Daimler AG), Head of Global Language Management, will grant an insight into quality-related processes performed prior toduring and after providing services for Daimler AG.

The following key issues will be discussed:

  • Machine Translation and Poor Quality Costs
  • Translation Quality Clustering and Analytics
  • Terminology Management
  • Cloud Translation
  • Product Liability

The Symposium is an exclusive platform for industry leaders to discuss cutting-edge innovations, technologies and concepts from the field of LQA. Participation is therefore by personal invitation only.
